Looking for funding for building repairs or improvements?

Benefact Trust’s Building Grants programme provides capital funding for the repair, restoration, and improvement of church and Christian charity buildings, helping them remain open, accessible, and fit for long-term use.

*Please note: Funding is available for roof alarms to help prevent metal theft (up to 50% of costs, maximum £3,000).

Building Grants

Our Building Grants programme supports projects that strengthen the long-term sustainability of church buildings across the UK and Ireland.

We prioritise funding for:

Essential church repairs and building works
Supporting church growth
Improving accessibility
Enhancing community use and social impact
Carbon reduction and environmental sustainability
Conservation of historic buildings

If your project is focused on activities or services rather than building works, see our Community Impact Grants for funding for community outreach projects. Methodist churches may also wish to explore our Methodist Grants for additional funding opportunities.

Who Can Apply

We welcome applications for capital building projects relating to individual sites or buildings.

Eligible applicants include:

Churches and cathedrals in regular use for Christian worship
Christian charities managing buildings that deliver public benefit
Certain organisations (such as educational institutions and hospices), which may apply for chapel projects only
